The 2001 Event

2001 had the SLCGBA individual and the Winter bowling competitions added making 29 qualifying competitions and a field of 23.The draw again turned out a mischievous pairing with husband and wife, Connie and Alan Mason facing each other in their second round game. The result went Alan’s way 21-16 and it was probably “all picture and no sound” in the Mason household that evening.

The semi-finals saw up and coming bowler Colin Marshall beat Neil Crook (8) and John Heathcote beat Dennis Thorpe (19). The final was a one sided affair with John Heathcote retaining the trophy 21- 10 and making it three wins out of four.
