2003 again had a field of 24 from 30 qualifying competitions. The field had quite a few familiar faces with Colin Marshall, John Heathcote, Colin Ackers, John Smith, John McCaul but it was another debutant that stole the day. Albert Prescott saw off Joe Monaghan (15) in the first round, Colin Ackers (20) in a very close second round, the pocket dynamo Billy Rigby (12) in the semi-final, before demolishing the in-form, and triple qualifier that year, Phil Boydell (10) in the final.
