Originally formed as the LEIGH SOCIAL AND POLITICAL MID-WEEK BOWLING LEAGUE, the Leigh & DIstrict Midweek Bowling League has been in existance since 1919. The current catchment area for the league covers Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley, Astley and Golborne, all towns in the county of Lancashire, Northwest England. The leagues sponsor is Pennine Utilities.
The HINDLEY BOWLING LEAGUE consists of 4 divisions. Its catchment area has spread in recent years and now includes numerous teams from the Leigh district.
The NEWTON and DISTRICT BOWLING LEAGUE consists of 6 divisions. Its catchment area includes teams from the Leigh and Golborne area.
